Nepal's recognition of international legal frameworks is contributing to the development of national legal norms acknowledging issues of sexual orientation and gender identity.
At the 47th session of the Human Rights Council, ISHR along with the Informal Sector Service Center presented a joint statement in Nepal’s Universal Periodic Review expressing concern about the situation of human rights defenders in the country.
"The rights of migrant workers is a global problem, and actors in different jurisdictions have to come together to make a difference in this particular area," says Barun Ghimire, a human rights lawyer based in Kathmandu, Nepal. "And we need to create a collective narrative that is based on a rights-based approach of migrant workers".
