We call for the renewal of a UN mandate dedicated to racial justice and equality, and for urgent action to protect civilians in Sudan. Last but not least, we celebrate 10 years of our flagship Human Rights Defender Advocacy Programme!

LAUNCH OF THE DECLARATION +25 

Following a year-long period of consultations with defenders, legal analysis and a meeting of experts, we are thrilled to launch the Declaration +25, a civil society-led authoritative document endorsed by experts that supplements the UN Declaration on human rights defenders. JOIN US >

  • 3 July at 12:00: Friedrich Ebert Stiftung will hold a side event on climate change and human mobility.
  • 3 July at 17:00: Third World Network will hold a side event on business accountability in the context of armed conflict.
  • 4 July at 15:00: Earthjustice will hold a side event on protection of environmental human rights defenders.

HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL PLEDGING EVENT

In advance of the Human Rights Council elections that will take place this autumn for the membership term 2025-2027, Amnesty International and the International Service for Human Rights will hold an online pledging event for candidate States on 4 September 2024. JOIN US >

INCLUSIVE PROTECTION MECHANISM VITAL FOR THE PROTECTION OF DEFENDERS

Participants in a two-day workshop on the operationalisation of the defenders’ protection mechanism in Côte d’Ivoire developed an action plan centred around four pillars to strengthen the visibility of the Committee and its collaboration with civil society organisations, among others. READ MORE >

A CALL FOR TRANSFORMATIVE CHANGE FOR RACIAL JUSTICE AND EQUALITY IN POLICING


The Expert Mechanism to Advance Racial Justice and Equality in the Context of Law Enforcement (EMLER) is up for renewal during the 56th session of the Human Rights Council (18 June - 12 July). The UN Antiracism Coalition (UNARC) calls for this crucial mandate to be renewed. READ MORE >
