Kumulika: Report on the African Commission's 52nd Ordinary Session and 25th Anniversary

At its 52nd Ordinary Session (9 - 22 October 2012), the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights marked its 25th anniversary. This issue of Kumulika provides analysis of developments at the Commission session and the preceding NGO Forum.

The report highlights some of the challenges faced by the African Commission, thematic issues such as development of soft law and methods of strenghtening the mechanism, and progress towards strengthening collaboration between the African Commission and other bodies. This issue also highlights the reports of the African Commission's special rapporteurs on human rights defenders, the rights of women, and freedom of expression and access to information. The report includes details of the State report of Côte d'Ivoire.
