ISHR Academy

ISHR Academy

The ISHR Academy is ISHR's e-learning space, helping human rights defenders strengthen their advocacy skills with the UN for greater impact on the ground.

The ISHR Academy is an open-access e-learning platform which provides online learning modules, tools, insider tips, stories of good practice and more to help demystify the UN human rights system and build the capacity of human rights defenders to push for change.

The ISHR Academy aims to expand the reach and impact of ISHR’s capacity building and expertise, so that any defender around the globe can benefit from our knowledge of strategic advocacy. It is a vital tool for defenders, particularly those from rural or remote areas, those who are subject to travel bans, for whom travel to Geneva or New York may expose them to risk of reprisal and for those unable to travel due to the global pandemic.

In the ISHR Academy, you’ll find learning modules (see Learn), stories from defenders who’ve engaged with the UN (see Stories of Good Practice), a database of resources that will support your advocacy (see Tools), and information on security concerns (see Security).

With all modules available in English, French and Spanish, defenders can learn about:

Defenders taking part in the Human Rights Defender Advocacy Programme (HRDAP), can also access a dedicated space for the course through the new HRDAP Platform.

The [HRDAP] Platform they offer us to improve our knowledge about international advocacy is very useful, accessible and practical, besides having many resources and tools that allow us to amplify our work as human rights defenders.
