Human Rights Defender's story: Celeste Fernández from Argentina
‘It’s important that those who work on [human rights] are able to not become frustrated when things don’t go our way. That we have the energy to carry on, to understand that we are a part of something bigger.’
Celeste Fernandez is a lawyer, a professor in constitutional law and a human rights activist from Argentina. She works with the Civil Association for Equality and Justice (ACIJ), focusing on strengthening democracy, the rule of law, and civic space.
In an interview with ISHR, she shared her inspiration and described her ultimate aim as that of building a ‘social fabric that is more fraternal’ and a community that is ‘less individualistic’.
