The report highlights some of the challenges faced by the African Commission, thematic issues such as development of soft law and methods of strenghtening the mechanism, and progress towards strengthening collaboration between the African Commission and other bodies. This issue also highlights the reports of the African Commission's special rapporteurs on human rights defenders, the rights of women, and freedom of expression and access to information.
