UN80 Initiative: implications of the UN reform for national and regional human rights NGOs (session for Europe & Asia-Pacific)
This webinar explains what the UN80 reform process means and how it may affect NGOs and human rights defenders engaging with UN human rights mechanisms and working in Europe and Asia-Pacific.
The UN80 reform process launched by the UN Secretary-General in March 2025 aims to reshape how the UN operates.
While the UN has urgent need to reform itself, the process has raised concerns about transparency, efficiency-driven reforms and limited opportunities for civil society engagement.
This webinar will explain what the reform process means and how it may affect NGOs and human rights defenders working at the national and regional levels who engage with UN human rights mechanisms.
To accommodate all the time zones, ISHR and partners will hold two identical sessions:
- on Tuesday 24 March, 3:00 pm - 5:00pm CET (for NGOs based in the Americas and Africa). Interpretation into Portuguese, Spanish and French will be provided.
- on Thursday 26 March, 9:00 am - 11:00am CET (for NGOs based in Europe and Asia-Pacific).
The participation of civil society working at the national and regional levels will be prioritised.
