Between 9 and 11 July 2024, ISHR together with Colombian partners Asosciaciación Minga, the Colombian Commission of Jurists and the Somos Defensores Program organised a cross regional discussion on protection mechanisms for human rights defenders.

This week in an online event, 10 candidate States publicly spoke to an audience of around 200 people on their pledges as incoming Human Rights Council members for 2022 – 2024. They also faced questions on pressing human rights issues from both States and civil society organisations.

In a significant legal intervention, ISHR calls on the Inter-American Court of Human Rights to rule that Honduras has violated the American Convention on Human Rights, as well as rights elaborated in the Yogyakarta Principles and the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders.
